Information on Cosmetic Ingredients: COSMILE Database

Under the name COSMILE, the new European database for cosmetic ingredients is online according to the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. This database allows consumers and manufacturers to quickly and reliably obtain information about specific ingredients.

COSMILE Europe is an initiative of Cosmetics Europe in partnership with the German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW). It was developed in collaboration with the French Fédération des Entreprises de la Beauté (FEBEA) and with technical support from health&media GmbH.

In addition to information on functionality (fragrances, preservatives, emulsifiers, etc.), a possible regulation according to the annexes of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 is also displayed. Any opinions from the SCCS on the selected ingredient are also shown. The database currently comprises approximately 30,000 individual substances. 

The database is currently available in 14 languages, with development and provision being carried out by Cosmetics Europe and the German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW).
