In the future, food inspections will actively provide information based on Section 40 para. 1a LFGB about food products exceeding legally established limit values. Additionally, authorities will publish the name and address of companies that have significantly or repeatedly violated food law regulations and where a fine of at least 350 euros is likely. Possible reasons for complaint include: “excessive microbial counts in food,” “contamination of production machinery,” or “misleading labeling.” Before publication, a hearing of the affected parties should take place.
