Investigations by Laves on Nickel

For nickel, maximum levels in certain foods were established for the first time across Europe, effective from July 1, 2025, based on Regulation (EU) 2023/915 of the European Commission. 

The Food and Veterinary Institute Oldenburg of LAVES examined a total of 331 samples for nickel in 2024. Except for two samples of green asparagus, the maximum levels were adhered to in the foods tested. Nickel testing in foods by LAVES will continue in the current year.
