Verdict: Nutella Label Criticized - In BAV Newsletter 04/2011

According to a ruling by the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt, the nutritional and vitamin information on Nutella labels is likely to mislead consumers. The Federation of German Consumer Organizations had sued, stating that different base amounts are used for the percentage of daily needs. Fat and carbohydrates are calculated based on 15g, while vitamin and mineral content is based on 100g of the product.
