Labeling of Food with the Term "Low Carb"

The term "Low Carb" is often printed on food labels, which can be translated to "low carbohydrate content." It should be noted that this is a nutritional claim. According to the Health Claims Regulation, this term is not permitted and must not be used.

The designation "carbohydrate-reduced" or "reduced carbohydrate content" is, however, possible under certain conditions. A statement of nutrient reduction can be made under the following conditions: the reduction of the carbohydrate content must be at least 30% lower than a comparable product.

Our customer service representatives are highly familiar with food labeling regulations and are happy to provide you with qualified advice on this.
