In the Ökotest issue of January 2020, 10 trail mixes, which had already been tested in November 2018, were re-examined for pesticides and mineral oils. The manufacturers had informed Ökotest that they had changed or improved the products.

In a fruit-nut mix that performed the worst in 2018 with 19 pesticide active substances, only three pesticides were detected in a very small amount. With the exception of two trail mixes, all products improved in the current test – they contain no or only a few pesticides and no or lower levels of mineral oil components. However, two trail mixes performed worse than in 2018, containing more pesticide residues. In one product, even 24 different pesticide active substances were detected.
