According to Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009, cosmetic products must be safe, particularly taking into account the labeling.
According to Article 19 Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009, the following information must be provided on the packaging:
· Identification of the responsible person (name/company and address)
· Declaration of the nominal content, except for packages smaller than 5ml or 5g
· Indication of the date of minimum durability (DMD) or Period After Opening (PAO)
· Where applicable, warnings
· Batch number
· Intended use, if not obvious
· List of ingredients under the heading “Ingredients”
· Language of the country in which the product is made available to the end user
For advertising claims, according to Article 20 Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009, no texts, names, trademarks, pictures, and figurative or other signs shall be used that imply characteristics or functions that the products do not possess.
Further requirements for advertising claims are regulated in Regulation (EU) No. 655/2013 (Claims Regulation).
