Microbiologically low-risk products according to DIN EN ISO 29621

The aim of the standard (DIN EN ISO 29621 "Guidelines for risk assessment and identification of low microbiological risk products") is to assist cosmetic manufacturers and regulatory authorities in identifying "low microbiological risk products" through a risk assessment.

This is very important as the scope of microbiological testing for low microbiological risk products can be significantly reduced or even completely omitted for certain tests according to DIN EN ISO 29621:2011 and DIN EN ISO 11930:2012.

Low microbiological risk products are defined as "products whose environment does not provide microorganisms with the physical and chemical conditions for growth and/or survival."
According to DIN EN ISO 29621:2011, products that meet one or a combination of the following product characteristics (see table) may be considered examples of low-risk products.

The BAV Institute is among the largest and most modern microbiological contract laboratories in Germany. Due to the high routine in cosmetic testing, there are no waiting times for preservative efficacy tests.
