Microbiological drinking water testing
Results of the Microbiological Examination
The examination results show that only 6.5% of the samples exceeded the microbiological limits according to the Drinking Water Ordinance. In many cases, the germ counts were only slightly above the respective limits, indicating the necessity for precise monitoring and regular drinking water analyses.
A particular focus of the study was on the detection of various types of bacteria. In 36 samples (4.1%), coliform bacteria were detected, which are considered indicators of possible contamination of drinking water. Similarly, Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci were found in 11 samples each (1.3%), bacteria that may indicate fecal contamination.
Additionally, unusual colony counts were identified during the examination at 36°C and 22°C. In 20 samples (2.3%), germ counts at 36°C exceeded the limit, while only 5 samples (0.6%) were above the permissible value at 22°C. These results highlight the importance of regular and detailed checks of microbiological water quality.
Importance of Microbiological Drinking Water Examinations
The results of the drinking water examination by CVUA Stuttgart show that the quality of drinking water in Germany remains generally good. Nevertheless, they also emphasize the importance of continuous drinking water analyses, especially regarding bacterial contaminations that can lead to health risks. CVUA Stuttgart plays a crucial role in maintaining high levels of drinking water quality and in early identification of potential risks through its microbiological examinations.
