Microbiological hygiene and environmental monitoring in cosmetic companies
Regular hygiene monitoring in your cosmetics operation determines the hygiene status and helps to identify and avoid potential microbial risks early.
Legal requirements can be found in Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, as well as in the guidelines for good manufacturing practice (GMP), established in DIN EN ISO 22716. These GMP guidelines are directly applicable law and must be implemented in your operation accordingly. Central points from this standard are queried during regulatory inspections.
Furthermore, the IFS HPC 2 standard (standard for household and personal care products) provides guidelines. This standard is increasingly being demanded by retail companies.
As part of the monitoring, regular sampling of water, raw materials, surfaces, air, and packaging materials is performed.
Further comprehensive information on this topic (frequencies, sampling techniques, evaluation, etc.) can be found in our newsletters Special Edition Cosmetics Part 11, Part 12, and Part 13.
