MILK RECALL
Last week, low-fat fresh milk was recalled nationwide in Germany. Affected is the fresh milk sold in German discount stores and supermarkets.
The milk was contaminated with the bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila.
Aeromonas hydrophila is a bacterium that is widespread in nature and is mainly found in surface waters (lakes, rivers). The bacterium is detected in fish, as well as in insects and domesticated and farm animals. Seafood is often contaminated, but the germ is also found in the meat of farm animals, vegetables, and dairy products.
A foodborne infection with Aeromonas hydrophila can lead to a gastrointestinal disease. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. In individuals with a weakened immune system, this disease can be severe.
In our laboratory, we regularly conduct tests for aeromonads and other pathogenic germs such as Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
Our customer consultants are happy to assist you with any questions.
