Food inspectors from Lower Saxony and Baden-Württemberg have checked dozens of raw milk samples from vending machines.

More than 20% contained too many germs, with pathogens such as Campylobacter and Listeria occasionally found. They can cause severe infections in young children and the elderly. Raw milk is extremely susceptible to germs. Therefore, milk vending machines must be labeled with the notice: “Boil raw milk before consumption.”
