Modern Identification Methods
With the advent of high-resolution methods for genetic information (sequencing), it is possible to get to the distinctive "core" of a microorganism – its "blueprint" stored in the genes. Since then, genome sequencing (Whole Genome Sequencing, WGS) has been gaining increasing importance in the detection of pathogenic microbes (https://www.efsa.eu/de/supporting/pub/en-743).
At BfR, among others, the reference laboratories for Listeria monocytogenes (the most dangerous type of Listeria), Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Escherichia coli are located (https://www.bfr.bund.de/de/referenzlaboratorien-1846.html).
In our laboratory, we regularly conduct these examinations. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
For questions, our customer consultants are very happy to assist you.
