MRI: Evaluation of BLL model and own NWK model
In April of this year, the BLL (German Federation for Food Law and Food Science) introduced its Nutritional Value Labeling Model (NWK model) aimed at simplifying the nutritional value labeling:
The model has now been evaluated by the Max Rubner Institute (MRI). Just like with other models, advantages and disadvantages were identified with the BLL model. According to MRI's conclusion, no model can be recommended without reservations so far.
Simultaneously with the evaluation of the BLL model, the MRI introduced its own NWK model:
In the summer of this year, the BMEL (Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture) will conduct a consumer test involving four to five labeling systems. These will include the BLL model, the newly developed MRI NWK model, and Nutri-Score.
We will keep you updated on further developments.
