The ALS (Working Group of Food Chemistry Experts of the Federal States and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety) addressed at its 112th meeting from September 10-12, 2018, whether the terms "fruits" or "fruit mix" can be used in the ingredient list of a fruit spread for a compound ingredient made of fruits and fruit juice or fruit juice concentrate.

According to the ALS, within the meaning of the LMIV (Food Information Regulation), "fruits" or "fruit mix" are not legally prescribed or conventional names for a compound ingredient made of fruits and fruit juice. Therefore, the fruits must be stated separately from the indication "fruit juice" in the ingredient list.
