"National Report on Pesticide Residues in Food 2017" published by BVL
The contamination with pesticides in Germany is very low and has been at a very low level for years.
In 2017, only 1.1% of the examined food samples showed exceedances of maximum residue levels. There are almost no exceedances anymore in popular foods such as carrots, apples, and strawberries.
The foods most frequently affected by exceedances include peppers with 7.4% and fresh herbs with 9.0%.
Particularly positive is the decline in exceedances in the area of infant and toddler nutrition.
Even with fipronil, only 1.9% of all tested chicken eggs, both conventional and organic, exceeded the maximum levels.
In our Tentamus laboratories, we routinely carry out checks on the maximum residue levels.
