Newguidelinesforveganandvegetarianfoodnotapproved

The German Food Code Commission (DLMBK) prepared guidelines for certain vegan and vegetarian foods.

A guideline draft that underwent final consultation was put to a vote. A unanimous decision, which is required according to the DLMBK's rules of procedure, could NOT be achieved due to one dissenting vote. Accordingly, a second consultation and vote will be held in the plenary session soon. The adoption of the guidelines for certain vegan and vegetarian foods by the DLMBK plenary is planned for this year. The complete status report can be read at www.bmel.de.
