New INCI Glossary for Cosmetics Released
With Decision (EU) 2019/701 of the EU Commission on establishing a glossary for the designation of the ingredients of cosmetic products, the INCI names were extensively updated (INCI: International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients). According to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, the ingredients of cosmetic products must be indicated with their INCI names. For this purpose, the Commission creates a list of corresponding names.
Due to the fact that many new cosmetic raw materials have found new uses in recent years, the existing glossary was extensively updated with this decision. Currently, the glossary lists more than 25,000 substances.
You can access the decision and the glossary free of charge on the Commission's website: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=OJ:L:2019:121:FULL&from=ET
