NewLabelingRequirementsAsOfJanuary012019DueToTheNewPackagingAct
The new Packaging Act will come into effect on January 1, 2019, replacing the previously valid Packaging Ordinance.
From the new year onwards, among other things, new labeling requirements for beverages must be observed. At the point of sale, an information board or sign indicating "Single-use" or "Reusable" must be placed near the beverage packaging. The design and font size must correspond at least to the price labeling. The new labeling requirements also apply to mail order, which must now include the information in, for example, brochures or online shops.
Small direct marketers or retail stores such as kiosks are exempt from the labeling requirement, as the goods are predominantly handed over to the customer via service. Also not affected by the labeling requirement are, for example, restaurants, canteens, or beverage vending machines.
