New SCCS Opinion on Maximum Aluminum Levels in Cosmetics

New SCCS Opinion on Maximum Aluminum Levels in Cosmetics

With the updated Opinion SCCS/1613/19, the EU's scientific committee addresses the issue of the use of aluminum compounds in cosmetic products.

In the past, the use of aluminum in cosmetics has been controversially discussed. This primarily concerns product groups such as antiperspirants, deodorants, lipsticks, and toothpaste. A safe use has been questioned and maximum amounts demanded.

The current opinion mentions recommended maximum levels for the aforementioned product groups. However, this does not imply the establishment of legal limits.

Make your products ready for these requirements and have the aluminum content in your products tested. The BAV Institute, as part of the international Tentamus laboratory group, tests this metal quickly and reliably for you, as well as many other residues such as heavy metals, plasticizers, etc.

Please feel free to contact your customer advisor directly; he looks forward to your message.
