New message from BfR on mono-n-hexyl phthalate (MnHexP)

 

In studies conducted by the State Agency for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection NRW (LANUV), the plasticizer mono-n-hexylphthalate (MnHexP) was recently detected in urine samples from children. This substance can be formed as a metabolite from various other plasticizers (phthalates).

Substances that can lead to the occurrence of mono-n-hexylphthalate include:

 

The Federal Environment Agency is investigating the potential sources of contamination and whether a ban on the substance is warranted.
