New maximum levels for T-2/HT-2 toxin in grains and grain products: EU regulation comes into effect

The European Commission has published Regulation (EU) 2024/1038, which introduces maximum levels for T-2/HT-2 toxin in cereals and cereal products. This initiative, which has been in planning for a long time, is now complete following adoption by the Standing Committee. The regulation sets maximum levels throughout all processing stages and also contains specific regulations for oats and oat products. It comes into force on April 30, 2024, and will be effective from July 1, 2024. Products lawfully placed on the market before this date may continue to be sold. Further details on the maximum levels and data to be submitted can be found in the regulation itself.
