The fragrances Hydroxyisohexyl-3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (commercial name Lyral) as well as Atranol and Chloratranol are newly regulated by law. As of August 23, 2019, it is prohibited to market cosmetic products containing these compounds. A sales ban for all products will then come into effect on August 23, 2021.

Lyral is currently regulated as a declarable fragrance according to Annex III of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and is subject to a declaration obligation at a content in the product greater than 10ppm (leave-on products) or 100ppm (rinse-off products). With the new regulation, this substance is newly included in Annex II of the regulation (banned substances). Atranol and Chloratranol are currently only indirectly regulated as possible components of oakmoss extract and treemoss extract. These two substances will also be included in Annex II.

Check your products for the absence of these substances and control the still declarable fragrances.

The BAV Institute, in cooperation with its partner laboratories, reliably and quickly detects all declarable as well as prohibited fragrances for you.
