The Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (BLV) published an information letter on the topic "Handling the food safety criterion for Listeria monocytogenes in ready-to-eat foods" on December 16, 2020.

This information letter is intended to make it easier for food companies that place ready-to-eat foods on the market to implement the requirements of the Hygiene Ordinance (HyV). The BLV supports food business operators in correctly classifying foods according to the requirements of the HyV and provides assistance in interpreting unsatisfactory results of product or environmental samples regarding Listeria monocytogenes. The BLV outlines mandatory measures following positive findings and provides examples of corrective measures to prevent further contamination.

Do you have questions about the classification of your food, for example, via a challenge test in your Tentamus Laboratory or dealing with unsatisfactory results? Please feel free to contact our BAV customer advisor Dirk Lorenz by email at dirk.lorenz@tentamus.com.
