Tightening of the Consumer Information Act
EU protection for Swabian Spätzle and Knöpfle - The European Commission has awarded the "protected geographical indication (PGI)" label to regional specialties from Baden-Württemberg. For a PGI, at least one of the production stages - that is, production, processing, or manufacturing - must take place in the area of origin. Therefore, Swabian Spätzle and Swabian Knöpfle must henceforth come from Swabia.
