Silver in Ice Cream
The authorities in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg provide information on the topic of silver in ice cream. The cause of silver contamination can be, for example, the use of silver-containing disinfectants in the storage water of ice-cream scoops. The addition of such agents for preserving, e.g., ice cream mixture, is fundamentally prohibited. When using disinfectants for surface disinfection, it must be ensured that thorough rinsing with fresh water is always performed to prevent the entry of disinfectant residues into the ice cream.
