NewVersionOfTheNotesOfGuidance
Criteria for the microbiological quality of cosmetics are included again in the Notes of Guidance! The SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) has revised the "Notes of Guidance for the testing of cosmetic ingredients and their safety evaluation." The 11th version, dated March 31, 2021, now once again includes criteria for the microbiological quality of final products.
It states:
- The microbiological quality must comply with the requirements of ISO 17516
- Challenge tests must be conducted; reference to ISO 11930 is not mentioned
- Criteria apply only conditionally to products containing living microorganisms (probiotics)
- Other microorganisms such as Pluralibacter gergoviae are not listed
In the 10th version, the microbiological criteria were not mentioned; in the previous 9th version, they were listed.
