October 2019 - Öko-Test Magazine tests body lotions
In the new issue of the magazine Öko-Test, a total of 51 body lotions are examined and analyzed in detail. Both natural cosmetic products and conventional products were tested. Two-thirds of the products (34) received the rating good or very good, 9 were at least satisfactory, while 8 products were rated poor or inadequate.
The main reasons for downgrading were
- Aromatic Mineral Oil Hydrocarbons (MOAH)
- PEG and PEG derivatives, paraffins, and synthetic polymers
- Concerning fragrances like Lilial (Butylphenyl Methylpropional)
- Silicones, e.g., Cyclopentasiloxane
Regularly check the quality of your cosmetic end products as well as the raw materials used for contaminants and residues to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.
