Öko-Test tests mascara products (eyelash mascaras)
No other article from decorative cosmetics is used as frequently in everyday life as mascara! In the current issue of the magazine Öko-Test, a total of 20 products were tested for residues. The result: 12 of the total 20 products can boast the rating very good or good. In addition to five products rated satisfactory, three only achieved sufficient or inadequate.
In the laboratories, the following substances were among those tested:
- Problematic preservatives such as formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers as well as parabens
- Allergenic fragrances
- Heavy metals such as arsenic, antimony, lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium, and nickel
- Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons such as naphthalene
- Silicones and synthetic polymers
For most of these parameters, there are clear legal requirements from the EU Cosmetics Regulation VO (EC) 1223/2009. At no time during the manufacture and use of a product should a substance be present that endangers the safety of the product. Potential health risks must not occur.
Have your end products tested for the above-mentioned ingredients and contaminants as well as other possible impurities. The BAV Institute and its Tentamus lab partners analyze residues and contaminants using the latest methods to comply with the requirements of VO (EC) 1223/2009.
