Whether online or stationary – the same legal regulations apply to food retailers. The Munich Higher Regional Court (OLG) reaffirmed this on February 18, 2021, confirming a corresponding judgment by the Munich Regional Court. For consumers, shopping online must be as safe as shopping at a local retailer.

 

EU-wide, it is regulated that for online food offers, the same information must be available to consumers before purchase as on products in the supermarket. The only exception is the best-before or use-by date.
