Pesticide residues in cosmetics and raw materials

When it comes to pesticides or plant protection products, most people think of contaminated food. However, pesticide residues also play an important role in the cosmetics sector!

The entry usually occurs through contaminated plant-based raw materials. Especially in the field of natural cosmetics, large quantities of natural substances are used.

Through the most modern analytical procedures, even the smallest traces of individual substances can be detected. Individual pesticide residues are listed as prohibited substances in the EU Cosmetics Regulation VO (EC) 1223/2009.

For all pesticide residues, the following applies: they may only be present in the final product in amounts that are technically unavoidable and harmless to health.

Have your cosmetic products and raw materials examined for undesirable pesticide residues. The BAV Institute and its Tentamus laboratory partners analyze plant protection product residues using state-of-the-art analytical methods (LC-GC) to meet the requirements of VO (EC) 1223/2009. The spectrum comprises more than 600 individual substances.
