PFAS in consumer goods and cosmetics
PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a group of chemical substances found in many everyday products such as paper, cardboard, and textiles. They are highly resistant to heat and possess high stability. However, this high resistance or persistence also causes a significant problem for consumers. They remain in the environment for a very long time and are absorbed and accumulated by humans.
In a recent publication by the cantons of Basel, Geneva, and Zurich in Switzerland, a total of 76 samples were tested for the presence of PFAS.
The result:
In 13 of the 76 samples (17%), the content of PFAS compounds was above the limit value.
Cosmetic products may also contain traces of PFAS. The first bans on PFAS substances are planned for 2026, which will lead to increased complaints (ubiquitous distribution).
We test for you quickly and reliably on relevant and frequently used PFAS compounds. Contact us, we look forward to your message!
