On 18.09.19, the Federal Cabinet decided to promote the so-called blockchain strategy for more transparency, efficiency, and security along value chains. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is significantly involved in this effort.

The focus is primarily on investigations by the Thünen Institute into the use of blockchain technology along value chains. The technology is to be used and promoted for the security of ecologically and socially sustainable, efficient, and safe supply and transport chains.
