The Paris Criminal Court sentenced the defendants to prison for fraud. The then head of the meat processor Spanghero was sentenced to two years in prison, of which 18 months were suspended.

The second key figure, a Dutch meat trader, was sentenced to two years imprisonment and banned from working in France.
