Prohibited preservative in cosmetics in the RAPEX rapid alert system

Prohibited preservative in cosmetics in the RAPEX rapid alert system

Again and again, cosmetic products with prohibited levels of thiazolinones (preservatives) are reported in the EU's rapid alert system. Currently, a product containing the substance methylisothiazolinone (MIT) is mentioned.

This substance is only allowed in rinse-off products (products that are rinsed off again) with a corresponding maximum limit according to the EU Cosmetics Regulation VO (EC) 1223/2009.

Ensure the quality of your products and regularly check them for the content of regulated or prohibited preservatives.

The BAV Institute, as part of the international Tentamus laboratory group, offers you the appropriate analytical procedures to quickly and reliably detect these substances. This allows for both screening for multiple substances and targeted detection of individual substances (e.g. parabens, thiazolinones, etc.).
