Protection against foodborne infections with listeria - In BAV Newsletter 01/2015

In the EU, more and more people are falling ill with listeriosis. Listeriosis can be caused by food contaminated with listeria. 

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control reported 1,763 cases in 2013, of which 191 were fatal. The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has published an informative overview on this topic. It provides answers to questions such as what listeria are, in which foods they occur, and how contamination and proliferation can be avoided. (Source: www.bfr.bund.de)
