Public recall due to increased counts of Bacillus cereus

Public recall due to increased counts of Bacillus cereus

Once again, a public recall has been issued due to increased bacterial counts of Bacillus cereus. Affected is an Asian noodle ready meal from a Lower Saxon import company. The official notification can be viewed on the portal lebensmittelwarnung.de.

The basis of the recall are detected exceedances of specific microbiological guidelines. In practice, a public warning often occurs with increased bacterial counts, as only a few specialized contract laboratories have the required expertise and methodology to directly detect the produced toxins. A differentiated assessment of health risk requires not only cultural detection but also targeted toxin analysis.

BAV Institute offers comprehensive consulting and analysis related to Bacillus cereus. In addition to the culturally anchored detection methods, we also conduct specific investigations to detect possible toxins.
