Publication of the EU Monitoring Program for Pesticide Residues in Food for the Years 2027 - 2029
The EU-wide monitoring program for pesticide residues remains a central instrument for ensuring food safety in Europe. The program aims to control compliance with legally established maximum levels in food while simultaneously assessing the potential exposure to consumers. The multi-annual control system is coordinated by the European Food Safety Authority in close cooperation with the member states.
As planned, the program is regularly reviewed and adapted to current developments. The updated version for the period 2027 to 2029 is now available. It takes into account new scientific findings as well as changed consumer habits and specifies which foods and active substances are the focus of the analyses.
In addition to traditional foods for general consumption, the program also includes sensitive product groups such as baby food and organically produced products. The analyses are based on the residue definitions and maximum levels established in Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. This ensures that uniform standards for evaluation apply across Europe.
The continuous monitoring not only serves control purposes but also provides transparency for consumers and the early identification of potential risks. It is therefore an important component of the European consumer protection system.
Private laboratory networks like Tentamus also make a significant contribution to meeting these requirements. In specialized laboratories, regular investigations on pesticide residues are conducted to support manufacturers, traders, and authorities in complying with statutory regulations. Experienced customer advisors are available for inquiries about analyses or regulatory requirements.
