RAPEXnotificationofcosmetics
Various cosmetic products regularly appear in the European Union's rapid alert system (RAPEX) with possible serious undesirable side effects. In most cases, the consequences are a public recall or withdrawal from the market.
Currently, a body lotion is listed in which the preservative isobutylparaben was detected. According to Annex 2 of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, this substance is listed as a prohibited substance. It has been proven to have endocrine (hormonal) active potential. Furthermore, several declarable allergenic fragrances were detected. In the ingredient list, all of these were not listed. These fragrances can lead to allergic reactions on the skin when applied.
Have your cosmetic products and raw materials checked for undesirable residues. These include, for example,
- Allergenic fragrances
- Preservatives
- Pesticide residues
The BAV Institute and its Tentamus laboratory partners analyze a large number of possible contaminants using the latest methods to meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.
