Recall: Clostridium botulinum in almond sauce

Due to the detection of Clostridium botulinum, an official recall of a vegan almond sauce was initiated. The publication also took place on the website lebensmittelwarnung.de.

Clostridium botulinum is a widespread microorganism in the environment, found in soil, water sediments, and dust. Clostridium botulinum only becomes a hazard when it multiplies in food and produces toxins.

The typical clinical picture of botulism is a severe foodborne illness with symptoms like nausea, diarrhea or constipation, and paralysis, caused by the neurotoxin produced by these bacteria.

Contamination with germs, spores, or toxins from Clostridium botulinum is not visible in foods, except in the case of gassing and swelling in canned goods.

Rapid and reliable results are the basis for early detection of potential contamination. We regularly conduct testing for Clostridium botulinum in our laboratory.

Our customer consultants are available for any questions.
