Recall: Listeria monocytogenes in food products
Time and again, food products are recalled due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes. Recently, these have been detected in Bratwurst, cheese made from pasteurized milk, and various matjes fillet products. The recalls were published on the website lebensmittelwarnung.de of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL).
Especially raw animal and plant foods such as meat, fish, milk, and vegetables, as well as processed foods, can be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. In some groups of people, the so-called listeriosis can also be fatal.
