Recall: Salmonella in Quail Eggs

Recall: Salmonella in Quail Eggs

Salmonella are among the most common causes of foodborne illnesses. Carriers of Salmonella are primarily raw animal products. Poultry, eggs, and pork, but also spices and herbs, can be contaminated. Heating to +72 °C for at least 2 minutes can kill Salmonella.

Due to the detection of Salmonella, the official recall of quail eggs has now been initiated. The publication was also made via the website lebensmittelwarnung.de.

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Children under the age of ten as well as elderly people are particularly at risk. They have a reduced immune response.
