Recall: Undeclared allergens in food

In December, there were two recalls of snacks because the presence of specific allergens could not be ruled out, but they were not declared.

According to Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 (Food Information Regulation, FIR), allergens must be labeled as they can trigger allergies or intolerances and are therefore potentially harmful to health. In rare cases, hypersensitivities to certain substances can also cause life-threatening immediate reactions (anaphylactic shock). To protect these consumer groups, the relevant information must be easily recognizable on the food packaging. Allergens include: cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulfur dioxide and sulfites, lupins, and mollusks.

In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly conduct tests for allergens. We provide you with quick and reliable results. Our customer advisors are happy to assist with any questions.
