Reason for recall: Contamination with Listeria monocytogenes
Listeria monocytogenes is a ubiquitous pathogen in the environment. This means it is found in both plant and animal foods. These bacteria can multiply at temperatures as low as 2°C, which is why short-term storage is important. When products are heated, Listeria monocytogenes are killed, making them less risky. More information and characteristics can be found at BfR.
However, there are repeated recalls due to increased contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Processed products can be contaminated by raw, contaminated raw materials. The current recalls can be viewed online on the Food Alert page.
We at the BAV Institute regularly conduct tests for Listeria monocytogenes and other pathogenic microorganisms. We provide you with fast and reliable results to promote food safety.
