Recalls Cosmetics in the European Rapid Alert System Safety Gate - Month March 2026
In March 2026, a total of 34 cosmetic products were listed as unsafe in the European Rapid Alert System. Consequently, all these products were recalled.
The following points led to a classification as an unsafe cosmetic product:
- banned substance and photoinitiator TPO (Trimethylbenzoyldiphenylphosphine oxide)
- missing declaration of mandatory fragrance allergens in the INCI list
- the specified sun protection factor (SPF) is significantly too low
- evidence of the banned fragrance Lilial (Butylphenyl Methylpropional)
- excessive levels of the banned heavy metals lead and mercury
- evidence of PPD (p-Phenylenediamine) without an appropriate coupler substance
- banned substance zinc pyrithione
The basis for the classification of products is the EU-wide valid Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.
