Recalls Cosmetic Safety Gate - August and September 2022 – Lilial & Co
In the months of August and September 2022, several cosmetics were classified as hazardous to health through the EU Rapid Alert System and accordingly recalled. Reasons for the recall included, among others:
- Elevated levels of heavy metals arsenic, antimony, lead, and cadmium in a powder
- Prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA, Lilial) in a hair product
- Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) as a forbidden plasticizer in a nail product
- p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) in hair dye
- Increased mercury content in a cream
- Confusability with food items in bath products
