Recalls in the Safety Gate Portal Cosmetics – Microbial Contamination

The EU's Safety Gate rapid alert system provides information on potentially harmful cosmetics that do not comply with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.

In the Safety Gate, filters can be applied based on the type of products, publication date, and type of recall (microbiological/chemical).

Over the past 3 years, a total of 39 products have been recalled due to microbial contamination, with 9 products already being withdrawn from the market for this reason this year alone.

Microbial contamination is particularly critical in products intended for babies and toddlers under 3 years of age or those whose use involves potential mucous membrane contact (eyes/lips). Especially in immunocompromised consumers, the use of microbiologically contaminated products can lead to health impairments.

Have your products and raw materials regularly tested for microbiological issues. The experts at BAV Institute are happy to assist you with this.
