Recalls of cosmetic products in August 2025 - Notifications in the Safety Gate

In the Safety Gate of the European Union, cosmetic products that are considered unsafe or hazardous to health and are recalled are listed. These products do not comply with the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.

In August, a total of 52 products were reported via the portal. The reasons for the recall were:

prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylproprional (trade name: Lilial)
SPF (sun protection factor) significantly lower than declared
prohibited preservative Isobutylparaben
HEMA (2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate) and Hydroquinone Methyl Ether as prohibited substances in consumer products
very high levels of the heavy metal lead
Missing declaration of allergenic fragrances
Microbial contamination with yeasts (Candida species) and bacteria (Burkholderia cepacia, Pluralibacter gergoviae)
