Recalls of cosmetic products in September 2025 - Notifications in the Safety Gate
In the European Union Safety Gate, cosmetic products that are considered unsafe or hazardous to health and therefore recalled are listed. These products do not comply with the requirements of the European Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
In September, a total of 42 products were reported through the portal. The reasons for the recall were:
- prohibited fragrance Butylphenyl Methylproprional (trade name: Lilial)
- evidence of further prohibited substances (e.g. UV filters, Dibutylphthalate)
- prohibited preservative Isobutylparaben
- HEMA (2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate) and hydroquinone methyl ether, as well as hydroquinone as prohibited substances in products for end consumers
- contamination with heavy metals (mercury, arsenic, lead)
- missing warning notices leading to health risks
- microbiological contaminations (e.g. increased total germ count or detection of Pluralibacter gergoviae)
We comprehensively support you in ensuring the safety of your products and conduct all necessary microbiological tests (including according to ISO 17516) and chemical tests. We test both the final product and the raw materials used.
Furthermore, we assess your products and create safety reports in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
Please feel free to contact us at any time - we look forward to your message!
