Regulation (EU) 2025/877 on the prohibition of CMR substances adopted
On May 12, the Regulation (EU) No. 2025/877 was adopted, which prohibits certain substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic (CMR) in cosmetics. The ban will come into effect on September 1, 2025.
This regulation originally comes from chemical legislation (REACH) and will be updated in a timely manner in Annex II of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009. Substances that will be banned include, among others:
- Dimethylpropyl phosphate
- Dibutyltin maleate
- Dibutyltin oxide
- 4-Methylimidazole
